From the desk of the Honorary Editor of Bengal Journal of Psychiatry
I am honored to start my term as the Editor of the Bengal Journal of Psy- chiatry (BJP). Having been involved with the BJP for the last few years, I am familiar with the journal’s general operations, and I extend my gratitude to the members of Indian Psychiatric Society West Bengal State Branch for electing me as the editor. The journal is transitioning after the commendable editorship of Dr. Sujit Sarkhel, who has set exceptionally high standards. His leadership has transformed the submission process into a seamless, paperless online system.
A notable advantage of BJP is its unlimited free online access, which boosts its global visibility. To streamline manuscript submissions, we have updated the “Instructions to Authors” to facilitate proper article submission, addressing issues that often cause unnecessary delays. We are at present focussing at improvement of indexing of the journal. From the next issue, we are transitioning to a professional platform for publication.
While digital media has largely surpassed print globally, there remains a strong demand for physical copies in India. Hence, we need to optimize our distribution network. As I embark on this editorial role, I anticipate continued support from our respected senior members, colleagues, teachers, and postgraduates. The journal’s success relies on your contributions, and I encourage all members to consider BJP for publishing their top research. I also invite active participation in the journal’s activities, whether through article submissions or by serving as a reviewer. Lastly, we welcome all constructive feedback and suggestions from our readers.
