It has been a privilege to serve as the Honorary Editor of the Bengal Journal of Psychiatry (BJPSY) for the past 2 years. I took on this responsibility following the tenure of Prof. Sujit Sarkhel, under whose guidance the journal underwent significant modernization, including the implementation of a fully online submission system.
During my tenure, our primary focus has been to enhance the journal’s visibility and attain indexing. In this pursuit, we collaborated with Scientific Scholar to elevate the quality and outreach of our publication in line with the standards set by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
We successfully published two issues last year, each featuring three original research articles. The January–June 2025 issue is scheduled for release at PSYCON 2025, and work on the July–December issue is already in progress.
Although I had envisioned continuing in this role to further elevate the journal, my growing responsibilities in another public-interest domain have made it challenging for me to continue as Chief Editor.
I am deeply grateful to President Dr. Aniruddha Deb, Hon. Secretary Dr. Sanjay Garg, and all office bearers of IPSWBSB for their unwavering support, particularly during challenging times. My special gratitude to Prof. Om Prakash Singh and Prof. Sujit Sarkhel for their invaluable mentorship and guidance. I extend my sincere thanks to the entire editorial team and reviewers for their dedication. It has been a pleasure working with the Scientific Scholar team, whose dedication and professionalism are truly admirable. I also sincerely acknowledge the generous support extended by Torrent Pharmaceuticals.
As I step down, I warmly welcome my successor, Dr. Subir Bhattacharjee. I am confident that under his capable leadership, the BJPSY will continue to grow and reach new milestones.
