Bengal Journal of Psychiatry (BJPSY) is a highly established and respected scientific journal. I am proud to be the editor of this journal. It is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal committed to publish high-quality articles in the field of Psychiatry, Psychology, Human Behavior, and Neurology. The journal is presently maintained under Scientific Scholar and registered with the following abstracting partners: Google Scholar, CrossRef, ReadCube, and Portico. There are many opportunities for research in psychiatry. Many aspects of this medical discipline are still to be uncovered. The relationship between the human brain and behavior, and the causes of its manifestation as illness, should be further explored. And that work can be done by the new generation of young psychiatrists. I think that the investigation of their minds will further advance this medical discipline. I will always strive for the publication of their work. A new section, residents’ corner, will be added to this journal to facilitate and encourage research work among young resident psychiatrists. The next big job is to make this journal indexed with other higher recognition, like Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and PubMed Central. I pray to my editorial team to help me in every possible way to take this journal to new heights.

The most difficult thing for a student and a human being is to find purpose and meaning in life. It was in psychiatry that I saw the light of life, the purpose I found, which I was desperately searching for during my graduation days. I have found myself as a lucky disciple in everything from developing myself as a good person, learning to know this society, and matching myself as a good professional. I am eternally grateful to all my teachers and thus always pray for their advice and blessings. I am grateful to all the psychiatrists of West Bengal for entrusting me with this important task. I will be forever grateful to the IPS-West Bengal State branch. I sincerely thank my respected teachers, Dr. Om Prakash Singh, Dr. Sujit Sarkhel, Dr. Sanjay Garg, and acknowledged others, my colleagues, for supporting me constantly. From my former editor, Dr. Sharmila Sarkar, I expect all her previous experience and guidance to carry forward my tasks.

Long live Psychiatry.

Long live the IPS-WB state branch.

Dr. Subir Bhattacharjee.

Editor in Chief,

Bengal Journal of Psychiatry.
